In November 2010, the World Travel Market – a leading global event for the travel industry – was held at the ExCeL Exhibition and Conference Centre in London’s docklands. Helen Kelly featured as consultant genealogist on the Tourism Ireland stand on Monday 8th & Tuesday 10th.
NBC will be airing their annual St. Patrick’s Day show on March 17th. One of the segments looks at how to go about tracing your Irish ancestry. Helen gave a short interview on how to start the paper trail. Watch the video in the media gallery.
On Tuesday morning 17th November, Helen Kelly will deliver her annual lecture on Genealogy and Tourism to students of Hospitality Management and Tourism , DIT College, Cahal Brugha Street, Dublin.
Ireland AM will be beamed from the Shelbourne Hotel in celebration of the 185th birthday of the Grand Old Dame of St. Stephen’s Green. During the show, the hotel’s Genealogy Butler Helen Kelly will engage with the presenters on how she assists and empowers Shelbourne guests to re-connect with their Irish heritage and history.
Genealogy Seminar in Malahide Library
Malahide Library hosted a Genealogy Seminar on Saturday November 7th starting at 10.15am. The seminar included lectures by representatives of the National Archives, Ordnance Survey Historic Maps and UCD. Among the guest lecturers was APGI member Helen Kelly who delivered a presentation on the role of newspapers in family and local history.
Helen Kelly is currently giving the second of a number of six week courses on genealogy to the Active Senior IT Society at Terenure Enterprise Centre which is situated in the old Classic Cinema, Rathfarnham Road, Terenure Village.
In January 2009, Independent Colleges in Dublin commenced a 12 week course in Family History in conjunction with the Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland (APGI). APGI member Helen Kelly delivered three of the lectures, ie. Census returns, Land Records, and The Valuation Office.
On Tuesday morning – the 9th December 2008, Helen delivered her annual lecture on the role of genealogy in tourism to Tourism degree students in the School of hospitality Management and Tourism in the Dublin Institute of Technology, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin.
Together with APGI members Joan Sharkey and Hilda McGauley, Helen Kelly delivered a short course on genealogy at Macro Community Centre, Green Street, Dublin. The course took place from 7.0pm to 8.30pm on four consecutive Tuesday nights from the 4th November.
